Language Interpretation
For my Wikipedia topic I chose language interpretation. I specifically chose the sections of the article that explained Escort and On-site interpretation because the two related the most to my chosen profession and seemed to need a little more work. Even though I'm not a hundred percent sure that the specific career that I want will be given to me in the military, I still focus my learning around face-to-face translation. The main reason I'd like to interact with the people that I am interpreting for is because you learn so many different things about another person's culture or background. Talking in a foreign language is also really cool. Just imagine being sent to another country full of uniquely different people to translate while you get paid for it. I actually can't wait to accept any opportunity to travel that pops up. Hopefully doing more research and editing this Wikipedia article will teach me a lot of other things about language interpretation that I can use in the future.

That's really cool! I want to travel too. I would love to see all the beauty in the world, and it would be great to do it while helping people!
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely chosen an interesting topic to write on. I've always found foreign language to be a fun subject to take in school but I doubt that I could dedicate my life to it. I applaud you for wanting to be a translator because I feel that this is an unappreciated field and can definitely always use more people who have a passion for a language.
