Have any of you guys heard of the Anime Weekend in Atlanta (AWA)? If you have and are interested please see me after class to become my new friend. It's actually harder than some people think to find another person that likes the same kinds of anime and nerdy stuff as yourself. I'm not
that much of a geek, but I do enjoy immersing myself in all things nerdy. Anyway, the AWA is a huge anime convention in Atlanta, Georgia only on a certain weekend in September. I'm actually going with my brother (unfortunately) and some friends, and we're even cosplaying. If you don't know what that is it's basically like Halloween where you dress up as your favorite character. Just because anime is in the name though don't think that that's what you're limited to. There are a lot of people that actually cosplay as video game characters too. I've seen some really cool Assassin's Creed and Borderlands cosplays and really wish to be that good.
The female ones are my favorite because you never expect such awesome costumes from a game with a male main character.
They also have really cool events like a ball and rave party. Plus, there's all the awesome booths that sell pretty interesting stuff, just don't buy manga books there because they are way more expensive than at a book store. Overall, I love being able to interact with other people like me outside of the internet and participate in such cool activities. It's especially amazing when you cosplay as a group!
P.S. this is who I am cosplaying as.
I haven't really watched a lot of anime, but I would love to go to a con someday if I ever get a chance. It looks like a bunch of geeks just uniting together to talk about all the media they're obsessed with. You're so lucky to be going to one! I hope you have a great time.
ReplyDeleteI have a terrible addiction to both anime and video games so this speaks to my soul. Though I not one for emphasizing my interest in anime, preferring to keep that behind closed door.
ReplyDeleteI love anime, but i don't know too much about it. I love going to things like that and seeing how many people dress up, it's so much fun! I love video games, I have been playing them forever and It's my guilty pleasure. I say I have a problem with video games, because when I start I don't stop until Iv'e had enough.
