Career Decisions Suck

Considering I'm not graduating High School until 2017, I'm not a hundred percent sure on my intended profession. I've sort of always wanted to be a professional photographer that traveled to take some of the most beautiful photos, but the realization of that not being a very successful career money wise made me think of other options. I definitely still want to travel and take some great photos, I just can't live off of that dream. So instead of photography, I have a different passion but for language. I'm dead set on becoming a translator in the United States Air Force, and was actually really hoping to take German here at the college, but sadly, I found out the Professor left. I've actually been excited to learn German for years and am currently trying to learn through apps and my friend that has previously taken his class. I've also developed back-up plans in case my military career doesn't work out. Additionally, I've taken Animal Sciences, some form of Literature/Writing related occupation, and Psychology into mind for a different pathway, but I really hope that the Air Force takes me and Arabic isn't as hard as it looks. (lol)

  1. Okay I just have to ask, how old are you? You said you don't graduate until 2017? That is incredible that your are taking a college level course right now, I really hope everything works out for you, way to go! Over achiever Alert!

    1. I am 17, and I'm doing the Dual Enrollment program to gain college credits while still in high school. It's a pretty awesome experience too. It's actually a lot easier and quieter at college than at the high school.

  2. Wow, I don't think I've ever heard of someone wanting to be a translator before, that's really interesting (even as a second-choice career). Do you know what it is that draws you to language? I love English, but my Spanish classes have always seemed to give me some difficulty. It takes a lot of discipline to learn a new language; I can't even imagine what Arabic is like. Way cool.

    1. Great to know I chose a unique profession, and I think it's mostly me being interested in all kinds of cultures, especially German, that draws me to language. Plus, it'll really come in handy knowing different languages if I ever get to travel as much as I want.
